Interlock USA, Inc. is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our team located in Reno, Nevada. Our company specializes in designing innovative and customized hardware solutions for the residential window and door market in North America. Our product line includes advanced systems for sliding, hung, casement and awning windows, sliding, swing and folding doors as well as a full line of European hardware solutions.

Role Summary:
The ideal candidate will have experience in window and door hardware, conceptual thinking, and mechanical design within a team environment. You should understand the fundamentals of plastics injection, metal forming, and zinc die casting processes. Experience with SolidWorks and a BS degree in Engineering is required. Direct customer communications, Microsoft Office knowledge, hands-on skills and limited travel in the North America and China is required.

You should have an eye for detail, not only be for product designing but also for the documentation that supports the design. You must enjoy working in an open and fast paced environment and possess a "can-do" attitude.


  • Evaluate customer profile drawings for fit of existing products and create application drawings
  • Create assembly drawings and instructions for customer profile fabrications and installations
  • Use application drawings to create customer samples to evaluate fit/form/function
  • Create profile specific designs to adjust to customer applications
  • Support sales and customers with technical product information and training
  • Assist in evaluating improvements or new product design needs for non-fitment of current product offerings
  • Produce documentation and procedures required to meet product requirements
  • Travel as required for customer introduction, start-ups, servicing issues and industry events

Experience will include:

  • Working in a technical or engineering environment
    • Working knowledge of the  North American Fenestration Industry and standards
    • Advanced SolidWorks/Auto CAD skills
    • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent
    • Designing products with components that involve injection molding and metal forming
    • Technical writing
    • Hands-on skills – proficient with hand tools and vertical milling machine
